To lose weight I recommend you drink this every morning and heres why!
You often hear people so that breakfast is the most important meal of the day?
But you never hear people say what you should be drinking first thing and should you drink before or after you eat breakfast.
I would say most of us are reaching for that cup of tea or coffee before anything else? Am I right?
Meaning a huge % of us are neglecting the key rule that we all should live by- “ HYDRATE before you CAFFEINATE”.
Warm water and lemon is a great way of doing this and Its one of the first things I recommend to all my clients when they start their journey with me. (As not many of us are doing this)
So why do I ask my clients to do this?
Warm water and lemon is great at ‘cleaning out’ your digestive system and removing waste products from your body that have accumulated.
This is why I recommend my clients to have this first thing in the morning, before breakfast, because it gets rid of those nasty toxins that have built up from the previous day.
All the time I get this ‘but Chelle aren’t lemons acidic?’
Yes they are, however when digested they become alkaline, which is great for balancing our bodies PH levels !!
Lemon’s also contain a fibre called pectin, which serves as an antibacterial – which basically means it’s great for digestive health. So when combined with warm water, it can help to eliminate the pathogenic bacteria in the body that cause diseases and infections. (You may know that last year I got very poorly and this became my saviour along with Ginger!)
Having a large glass of warm water and lemon is also important purely for hydration purposes.
Dehydration can be detrimental for lots of reasons, one of which being that our body cannot perform optimally without the right fuel. For example, the warm water can kick start the gastrointestinal tract, making it perform properly from the start of the day and allowing it to effectively digest your breakfast. (I hope this makes sense, I talk a lot about stress in the gut, we need our gut working properly to be able to digest food properly)
And don’t forget the obvious reason for adding lemon to your diet – lemons are high in vitamin C, which is great for fighting colds and boosting your immune system. (Again last year my immune system was not working how it should and adding this every day helped me massively)
So basically recapping, Warm water with lemon before eating breakfast will hydrate you, it will alkalise the body where tea/coffee is acidic when digested, it eliminates toxins, and is a great source or vitamin c which will help boost your immune system.
So this week why not make that one change and add warm water and lemon to the start of your day!
